Purple Palms Resort

Purple Palms is a 3-acre resort located on the outskirts of Kushalnagar, Coorg, Karnataka, on the Madikeri-Bangalore National Highway. One of the main goals of the project was to create the feeling of a large resort in a smaller sized site. Visitors travel through a long driveway surrounded by tropical planting, arriving in a space with a natural pond, lush greenery and the sound of moving water. The rooms all overlook a densely wooded central space that provides both privacy to rooms facing each other, as well as the feeling of being in a forest. Meandering pathways add to this feeling of being in a forest, increasing the perceived scale of the space for a visitor. A recreational space at the rear of the property is designed to be a more fun experience with a freeform shaped pool, water spouts and a shallow pool for children. Adjacent to the pool is a congregation space that is often used for open air banquets.
